Dalian Economic & Technological Development Zone

Dalian Development Zone is the first national economic zone of its like in China, approved by the State Council in 1985. Up to date, 36 square kilometers area has been developed, with 1310 foreign investment enterprises, total investment of 10 billion USD, contracted foreign capital of 6.7 billion USD, actually used foreign capital of 3 billion USD. The above mentioned foreign investment enterprises came from 36 countries and regions. Regarding the total investment, Japan ranks the first, and then Hongkong, United States, Korea, France, and so on. 39 companies of the top 500 enterprises of the world have their investment in Dalian Development Zone. Now the annual industrial output reaches 30 billion RMB yuan, and the export foreign currency earnings reaches 1.6-2 billion USD each year. A new industrial structure came into being with second industry accounting 68%,third industry accounting 32%. The accumulated investment of 8.4 billion RMB yuan in infrastructure and public service utility provide a strong support to the further development of the above industry.

Along with the sustained expansion of Dalian Development Zone and the changes of the world economy, the functions of Dalian Development Zone can be indicated as follows:

Function of globe oriented promotion. Located in the most opening area in Northeast fo China, Dalian always plays a role as the head of dragon or window to the openingup of Northeast of China. Therefore, the function of globe oriented promotion is the most important one of Dalian Development Zone. It can help to promote the international economic cooperation in Northeast of China.
